Types of Braces in Whitefish Bay, WI

At Wurm Orthodontics, we believe every smile deserves a customized path to perfection. That’s why we offer a variety of orthodontic treatment options designed to fit your unique needs, goals, and lifestyle. Whether you’re looking for a traditional approach or a more discreet alternative, our advanced orthodontic systems combine comfort, efficiency, and aesthetics to help you achieve a beautifully aligned smile with confidence.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces, whether metal or clear, are the most common orthodontic treatment, especially for our kids and teens, and for good reason! They’ve been trusted for generations because nothing offers more precise control of tooth movement or better aesthetic results. Today’s braces are designed to be smaller, flatter, and more comfortable than ever, making treatment more effective and easier to wear.

  • Treatment Length: Treatment can range from a few months to a few years, but the typical case takes just over a year and a half.
  • Office Visits: You’ll visit Wurm Orthodontics every six weeks so Dr. Wurm can assess your tooth movement and adjust your braces to keep your treatment on track.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are a series of removable trays made of nearly invisible plastic that gently guide your teeth into their ideal positions. They are custom made to your teeth and your smile design. Each tray is worn 20+ hours a day and for one to two weeks. Similar to braces and wires, the steady pressure applied by the aligners on the teeth results in movement. Unlike braces, the aligners can be removed, making them easier for eating and brushing. This convenience and minimal visibility make them a popular alternative to the traditional braces.

Clear aligners are a great choice for patients who want a more discreet treatment option. Many adults prefer aligners for their aesthetics and the convenience of fewer office visits. They can also be a great option for busy teens who juggle sports, school, and activities, since aligners offer flexibility with scheduling.

  • Treatment Length: For our comprehensive treatment, aligners and braces take a similar amount of time. However, for minor alignment issues, aligners can often work much faster, sometimes in as little as a few months!
  • Office Visits: You’ll only need to visit our Whitefish Bay orthodontic office every 12 weeks—that’s half as often as with traditional braces!
